| First the request phrase, Por favor, você poderia... then what ever you want them to do, in this case pronounce this pronunciar isto. Or in our last example, write this or escrever isto. |

| Literally, this means "Please could you pronounce this.” |
| CULTURAL INSIGHTS |
| Asking people to write down a phrase for you is a great idea because often you won't understand what the person is trying to say and this is also a great way to learn new words. Maybe their accent is really strong or maybe you just can't understand what they are saying. Seeing the word written can often give you a clue as to the meaning because many Portuguese words are written similarly to English words, just the pronunciation is different. |
