Eric: And welcome to Culture Class: Essential Brazilian Portuguese Vocabulary, Lesson 21! In this lesson you'll learn five essential words related to transportation and life around town. Eric: Vans are small, usually privately-owned buses that can be found in every city. Since they compete with buses, they always try to run faster than the bus and fit as many people as possible inside.

Eric: The moto-taxi is a cheaper alternative to expensive taxis. You won’t find them in every location, but many cities do have them. The prices are usually fixed, but they can work just like regular taxis, with base prices plus additional fares according to distance.
