Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask the question, "When is your birthday?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to ask and answer about the date of an event.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!

Quando é o seu aniversário?
É dia 4 de março.
Once more with the English translation.
Quando é o seu aniversário?
“When is your birthday?”
É dia 4 de março.
“It's on March 4th.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "When is [event]?"
The pattern is: Quando é [event]?
“When is [event]?”.
For example:
“When is your birthday?”
Quando é o seu aniversário?, Quando é o seu aniversário?
Now, how do you answer this question?
É dia 4 de março.
“It's on March 4th.”
Listen to it again:
É dia 4 de março., É dia 4 de março.
This Portuguese sentence literally translates as "Is day 4 of March." But it means “It's on March 4th.”.
