Olá, gente. Tudo bem? I am Paloma. Welcome to another Top Portuguese Words. Today’s topic is, Top 10 Marriage Proposal Lines. |
Are you ready to get married in Portuguese? Let’s do it. |
1. Você quer se casar comigo? "Will you marry me?" |
This is the most common proposal line in Portuguese. |
Você quer se casar comigo? |
And the answer can be Sim! or Quero! Or Não / Não quero. |
2. Você me daria a honra de ser a minha esposa? "Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" |
Você me daria a honra de ser a minha esposa? You can use esposa to mean wife but it’s also very common to say mulher or woman meaning wife in Portuguese as well. |
Você me daria a honra de ser a minha mulher? |
3. Esperei por você a minha vida inteira. "You are the one I've been waiting for my whole life. " |
My whole life. |
4. Quero ficar com você pra sempre. "I want to be with you forever. " |
It’s funny because forever is para, (for) sempre, (ever), para sempre, forever. |
5. Quero passar o resto da minha vida do seu lado. "I want to spend the rest of my live with you." |
Do seu lado means on your side or next to you. |
6. Você me completa. "You complete me." |
In Portuguese, we say, a metade da laranja. The half of the orange. So if you are the other half of the orange, you are completing each other. |
7. Você é tudo o que eu sempre sonhei pra mim. "You're everything I've always dreamed about." |
All the sentences, they sound like songs. |
8. Nós fomos feitos um para o outro. "We were made for each other." |
9. Você me faz querer ser uma pessoa melhor. "You make me want to be a better person." |
Remember that in Portuguese, usually the adjective comes at the end. So pessoa melhor and in English, it is a better person. |
10. Antes de te conhecer eu não sabia o quanto a minha vida era vazia. "Before I met you, I never realized how empty my life was." |
Antes de te conhecer eu não sabia o quanto a minha vida era vazia. |
There are so many small words in there. Antes de te conhecer. |
