Eric: Welcome to 3-Minute Portuguese Season 1, Lesson 8 - Talking About Your Age. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask someone's age and to say yours in Portuguese.

Eric: Here's the informal way to ask 'How old are you?' in Portuguese.
Ana: [Normal] Quantos anos você tem?
Eric: First is a word meaning 'how many'
Ana: [Normal] quantos [Slow] quantos
Eric: Next is the word meaning 'years'
Ana: [Normal] anos [Slow] anos
Eric: Next is the word meaning 'you'
Ana: [Normal] você [Slow] você
Eric: Last is the word meaning 'have'
Ana: [Normal] tem [Slow] tem
Eric: Note the rising intonation. Listen again to the informal question meaning 'How old are you?'

Eric: Now, imagine you're speaking to a stranger. Here's the formal way to ask, 'How old are you?'
